Prayer Shawl

The Prayer Shawl Ministries was started in June, 2015 with 10 members who knit or crochet and 1 Quilter who makes the cross-cloth bags.  We currently have 14 members; 11 who knit or crochet and 3 who assist in making the cross-cloth bags.

Since 2015 we made and distributed 947 Prayer Shawls. This year we have made 300 Prayer Shawls for the first half of the year.

Since 2015 donations have exceeded $2000. This Ministry exists solely on donations of yarn and funds with no impact on Trinity’s budget. The shawls are given to Congregation members, our Pastor, the Deacons and Parish Ministry Assistants, Friends of Ruth, God’s World Teachers, the confirmands, High School Graduates, New Church Members, Family Members at all Resurrection Services, our local Breast Care Center at Yavapai Regional Medical Center for women diagnosed with Breast Cancer, Stepping Stones Shelter, Yavapai Family Advocacy Center and Yavapai Territorial Gospel Mission.

Prayer Shawls have been sent out to our Congregation's family and friends in 22 states, Canada, England and to a Missionary in Africa.

A Prayer Shawl was given to Trinity's very own Missionary, Marissa Melchiors who left in June 2017 for a three-month tour of Europe with the YWAM Heartbridge Discipleship Program.

Our Prayer Shawl Ministry has inspired 3 NEW Prayer Shawl Ministries at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Prescott, AZ; Christ's Greenfield Lutheran Church, Gilbert, AZ; and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, WI.

In 2018, we have made 150 Prayer Shawls for Team Titus for the Waco, TX Thrivent event at the State Fairgrounds in October.
