Interfaith Meal

The Community Interfaith Meal is held monthly on the 4th Saturday of the month in Trinity Hall. A nutritious meal is served from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm for families in need, single parents with children, a deaf community of 12 people, disabled veterans, grandparents who are raising grandchildren and anyone in our community who is hungry, low-income, financially struggling or homeless.  We provide a meal to take home. In addition, there is available 40 sack lunches on a first come, first serve basis. Each sack lunch contains a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, a piece of fresh fruit and a granola bar.

As an added bonus, free haircuts by one of our members, Olivia Salicos, to anyone who attends the meal on a first come, first serve basis. We average 8 haircuts per month.

All the work is done by a group of dedicated volunteers from our congregation giving of their culinary abilities and is an opportunity for our youth to learn serving others. It is supported solely by donations and by freewill offerings at the time of the meal. It is not part of the church budget. In addition, the Windermere Foundation has been providing the Interfaith meal with a grant of $2,000.

This is part of a coalition of churches in Prescott Valley. Participants include Mingus View Presbyterian Church, Prescott Valley Methodist Church, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, St. Germaine Catholic Church, and Trinity Lutheran Church. Meals are provided 4 times a month at 3 Host Churches. Trinity's on the 4th Saturday, Emmanuel's on the 2nd Friday and St. Germaine's 2 meals on the 2nd and last Tuesdays. The other churches assist each other with supplies and various foods as they become available.

For the first six months of 2018, Trinity has served and sent home 568 hot meals and distributed 240 sack lunches. Each serving costs approximately $3.70.  Our core team of dedicated Volunteers prepare and cook the meal, set up, serve and clean up Trinity Hall and the kitchen. Our youth assist at Trinity Hall as servers and with clean up.
